Introducing the Andes 3 Portable Printer

The Andes 3 is the first in a series of enhanced "Generation 4" printers that expands Extech's existing family of portable printing products. Named for the majestic soaring peaks of the Andes mountain range, it is able to withstand adverse weather conditions and drops to concrete without diminished performance. With the Andes 3, users can expect a printing experience as versatile and expansive as the region it is name for:

• Prints Receipts, Tags, or Labels
• IP54 Certified (no need to use an environmental case)
• Clamshell design for easy drop in paper loading
• Multiple communication options

The Andes 3 has a compact, lightweight design, and with either the shoulder strap or belt loop it is ideal for all-day wear. The printer is constructed of an impact-modified polycarbonate blend material and comes equipped with an abrasion-resistant Santoprene® over-mold for an extremely rugged solution.

The Andes 3 produces high speed, high resolution direct thermal receipts and invoices and significantly reduces print time per receipt. A clamshell-style loading system with an easy to operate button release for the locking transparent paper door makes changing the oversize paper rolls easy and convenient. A new extra-capacity rechargeable lithium ion battery enables more receipt prints per charge and can be easily charged in the printer. The fast charge circuit with an auto switch to AC power is included on the mother board, not in the printer, making replacement batteries much more affordable.

The Andes 3 is designed to work with all portable terminals, ruggedised notebooks and tablet PCs in a variety of mobile computing applications including Route Accounting, DSD and Field Service. The printer will add to Extech’s already dominant position in the three-inch portable printing market segment.

The Andes 3 logic is based on a highly integrated, state-of-the-art 32-bit processor that manages all of the features supported by the printer. Resident and downloadable features allow the addition of logos, bar codes and other graphic elements to the receipt. Multiple communication interfaces include USB, serial as well as three wireless options (IrDA; integrated Bluetooth™ radio or integrated 802.11b/g radio).
